UnCANNY MUSIC is the full-service audio company of multi Emmy and Addy winning composer Len Miller. We create evocative custom music scoring, sound design, and audio mixing.
While often utilizing world-class musicians and other like-minded people, our projects include wall-to-wall scores for several TV series, spots for eBay, shows for Toyota, and complete theme packages for the likes of Comcast SportsNet and CBS outlets.
We have an uncanny ability to literally get the client’s picture and ask the right questions. This type of attention and collaboration enables us to quickly create inspired tracks that consistently hit just the right emotional tone.
Most folks think of music and sound design as separate entities–we’re different. To us, they’re just two points on a spectrum of wonderful, musical noise. Our unique philosophy frequently results in our work containing sounds that are cool and vibrant hybrids. We wonder: How about accompanying a haunting violin melody with the sound of dropping silverware which has been bent beyond recognition?
Whether we craft music, sound design, or something in between, the resulting soundscape will be an emotionally resonant and impactful part of your project.
Clients often view the processes of music composition and sound design with trepidation. One of the most prevalent causes of apprehension is quite simple. The client often has control over their vision during the entire production and post-production processes, and suddenly, when they’re one step away from finishing project, they think they have to be able to “speak music” to the composer. Some clients feel less-than comfortably equipped to do so. If you know music and have preferences for certain instrumentation, we welcome your insights. If not, it isn’t necessary, as our expertise lies in evoking the emotions needed for your project through our work.
We can start the collaboration with just about anything from a brief description to a temp track you may love. We can also come in early in the project, often the earlier, the better, to work on cuts and become a part of the team. Music and sound design—and yes, the stuff in between—are a blast to create. What’s even better? Knowing we’ve successfully collaborated with someone new to help bring their vision to life.
We look forward to creating with you, so please get in touch!
